OVUM
Improbable Matter
The work springs from the desire to explore matter beyond its conventional forms, using uncommon materials, elements seemingly foreign to the language of painting, to build a living, irregular surface. On this unusual base, drips, splashes and layers of colour weave densely together: deep violet, electric blue, touches of golden yellow and flashes of white crossing the composition like fissures of light.
At the centre, the energy spreading all around stops abruptly in a fixed, motionless lake, where the weaves and waves flatten and settle. The result is a work fusing experimentation and painterly gesture, making matter the protagonist and colour an instrument of revelation.
